Scout Motors to Headline Chester Workforce Summit on Jobs, Training and Opportunity

Company leadership will meet with Chester-area families, students and job seekers as South Carolina prepares for thousands of advanced-manufacturing careers.
CHESTER, S.C. — Scout Motors will take center stage at an upcoming Chester workforce summit designed to connect rural families directly with information about careers, training and South Carolina’s expanding advanced-manufacturing economy.
Clarice Henderson, Vice President of Human Resources Production at Scout Motors, will speak at Scout Motors at the Chester Workforce Summit on Friday, August 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chester Agribusiness Center.
Henderson will discuss Scout Motors’ workforce needs, career pathways, application process and what prospective employees should expect as additional positions become available.
The company is developing a major Production Center in Blythewood, where it expects to create more than 4,000 permanent jobs. Scout Motors has begun hiring and developing training pathways for workers entering advanced manufacturing, with initial production targeted for 2027.
The free summit will give students, recent graduates, parents, job seekers and career-changing adults an opportunity to hear directly from company leadership while connecting with educators, workforce specialists and community organizations.
CUBN/New Progressive Journal organized the summit with the City of Chester and community partners to ensure residents along the I-77 corridor are positioned to pursue the opportunities created by this investment.
“Chester families deserve direct access to the people and information shaping South Carolina’s economic future,” said Javar Juarez, BRBA senior director and publisher of the CUBN/New Progressive Journal. “Our role is to bring that information into the community so residents can understand the opportunities, prepare themselves and compete.”
CUBN has tapped the Rev. Tabatha Strother, a former Chester city councilwoman, to help coordinate the summit and bring local partners together.
Admission is free. Registration is encouraged and guarantees seating though not required.
